National_DonateLife_MonthDid you know April is National Donate Life Month? Help observe this special month by donating life. Keep reading to find out how.

Become an Organ Donor
How do you donate life? It’s simple: Register to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor. Find out how at organdonor.gov.

Here are reasons why you should become a donor:

  • Every 10 minutes, another name is added to the transplant waiting list due to cancer, liver failure, heart disease, dialysis, diabetes, and COPD.
  • 18 people die each day waiting for a transplant.
  • 90% of Americans say they support organ donation, yet only 30% of licensed drivers or ID card holders have enrolled in a state donor registry.
  • 1 organ donor can save 8 livesinformation provided by http://www.transplants.org

Financial Donations
How can you help right now? By donating financially at www.transplants.org. Your financial donations will help families afford the significant medical expenses they are facing during this difficult time.

Donate to Someone in our Community
Your donations can affect people all over the country, or you could impact someone closer to home. Neal Smith, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, is living on borrowed time. Neal has severe lung deterioration, and doctors say a lung transplant is critical to his survival. Family is important to Neal, including his son, Ryan, an active member of our church family, who serves in our student ministry, children’s ministry, orchestra, and wherever he is needed. Neal’s family is faced with raising the cost of his lung transplant, which amounts to $550,000.

If you would like to donate life to Neal, his wife of 40 years, his three children, and two grandchildren, here are two ways you can do that:

  1. Send a tax-deductible donation via check or credit card. Please make your check payable to NFT Missouri Transplant Fund. Remember to write “in honor of Neal Smith” on the memo line.
  2. Visit http://www.transplants.org to make a secure online donation. Click “Find an NFT Patient” to search for Neal Smith.
